The English Karate Governing Body (EKGB) was formed in 1991, by the amalgamation of two bodies, The English Karate Council (EKC) and The English Karate Board (EKB). The EKGB consists of 88 member associations representing individuals practicing karate in England. Each member association sends representatives to council meetings to discus the business of the EKGB and to formulate policies concerning the practice and development of karate within England.
Access to National Squad training, the official Regional, National, European, World Championships, Government and Lottery Funding is via EKGB registration. The EKGB National Chief Referee - Terry Pottage 7th Dan has developed a solid base of World, European and Nationally qualified officials who are highly regarded both nationally and internationally.
The English Karate Governing Body is the ONLY Governing Body for
Karate in England to be recognised and supported by Sport
England, the European Karate Federation and
the World Karate Federation.
